Meet the Press
I really do love this image of me in action taken by Terry.
Final 30 Days for ArtPrize 2009 Kissing Booth Gallery
The ArtPrize and Tanglefoot Kissing Booth Galleries have been extended one more month due to popular demand.
But in 30 days they will expire. This will be the last time the images will be available and then they will be taken down.
My original intention was only to offer the images for three months after ArtPrize but people responded so favorably I decided to extend the run, but after April 20 the images will go into an archive.
I just wanted to give everyone tonight who has visited the galleries a notice on the expiration of the gallery.
Thank you for your support of this wonderful project. ArtPrize provided me a break from my studio/gallery life and placed me in direct contact with you. Looking back, I really enjoyed my time spent with each one of you.
Keep your eyes peeled for what I have cooking up for Year Two.
Cheers!

When and Where is 4.0 Opening Again?
This is a good question.
While I am looking over the calendar I almost took it to Juice Ball but I decided it was too much to complete on my own with Michael in Boston for grad school.
So I am open to brainstorming but I would love for it to be centered around an event that reflects diversity of this region. Shoot me a few suggestions. The next versions will be more low key but no less important in this photo record of our community.
Thanks for your interest in the Kissing Booth.

3.0 Images Are Edited.
Update: the images have been edited and tonight I will color correct before uploading.
If you are interested in turning any of your images into personal Christmas cards for this year, please email me.
I am currently seeking a new supplier for this item.
Most importantly this weekend pass on seconds if you’re already full, take naps since you deserve them and above all else play nice.
Have A Happy Thanksgiving!

The Kissing Booth Opens Again at Rob Bliss’ Zombie Walk
This Friday night at Calder Plaza in downtown Grand Rapids, Tommy will reopen the Kissing Booth for Zombies ONLY!
As with previous Kissing Booths the Zombie version is a limited edition event and will open and close with little fan fare (unlike ArtPrize.)
Zombies are encouraged to seek out the set which will pop up on the plaza. Because this is a public event, all Zombies who pose will not have to sign a release since being at this event is consider an implied release if you pose in the booth.
This is the third version of the Kissing Booth in Grand Rapids. Last month’s ArtPrize booth had over 1,000 people captured in photographs.
See you there!

Comments on Next Steps (The AP Kissing Booth is taken down)
I got a nice note from Nick Culver about my recent RapidGrowthMedia.com editorial on the next steps in a post-ArtPrize Grand Rapids. Nick hosted the ArtPrize winning artist Ran Ortner in his home.
I thought his feedback had some good points to consider.
This is the first time I have introduced feedback from my column in this blog.
I will probably do more of this in the future. Over the past month or so I have received numerous comments about RG covered and breaking of unique story angles on ArtPrize.
Thanks Nick for the comment.
“Good piece, Tommy. When asked what we can do to nourish the thoughts and memories of this past ArtPrize until next year, I think utilizing your networking skills to continue to work with artists such as Young Kim as well as others is essential.
Like I say to everyone else at the grass roots level of this phenomena, you certainly have your work cut out for you.
It is with you answering our ArtPrize questions and continuing to feed our continued interest in ArtPrize that we can ensure ArtPrize 2010 will be both the same as well as improved. And I think you know what [we] mean by being the same as well as improved. It would be too easy to let this fantastic event become cheapened should it fall into the wrong hands.” – Nick Culver
